Baldwin Infusion Center
Making Treatment More Comfortable
Patients needing infusion or chemotherapy treatments will spend time in their semi-private therapy room, with comfortable reclining chairs that provide heat and massage. Ten therapy rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows letting in an abundance of natural light, overlooking our lush healing gardens. The remaining two rooms are more private, with beds instead of chairs, and allow our patients a more secluded option to receive their treatment. All nurses are trained to Duke Health standards and certified through the Oncology Nursing Society in areas of specialty that include Chemotherapy, Biotherapy, Breast Care and Radiation Oncology, providing the highest level of specialized care.
Family and friends are encouraged to spend time with the patients and our staff ensures that they are as comfortable as possible for the duration of their loved one’s visit. Each room has a flat screen television that can be used with or without headsets and patients are provided an Apple iPad to check their email or surf the web.
Consult With Our Oncology Pharmacist
Located within the Infusion Center, the Pharmacy is staffed by two full-time Oncology Pharmacists and a Technician that prepare all chemotherapy IV medicines so the nurses can remain focused solely on patient care. This benefits the patient greatly as the Pharmacists regularly round on them to answer questions and to discuss potential interactions with other medications or supplements they may be taking. As a double-check system, the calculations and dosages are verified by an additional Pharmacist located at Indian River Medical Center, prior to dispensation for each and every drug to ensure accuracy.
